Getting a jump on New Year’s resolutions
Having a vision for the future is one way to avoid the winter blahs.
I always have my six month dental check up in December and June.
The best thing about the December visit is setting a date for the June visit…whatever day it is it will be warm and sunny…a lot nicer than the December date.
Well here’s my first resolution for 2010:
Avoid inane conversations.
According to Webster, inane is an adjective meaning “lacking significance, meaning, or point.” See also empty and pointless.
This won’t be easy considering the interesting potpourri of people with whom I live.
But my philosophy on resolutions and goals is to achieve a progressive realization of a worthwhile, measurable task, goal or resolution.
That means in English…it is a journey not a destination. At least most of my goals are journeys.
You could also say, if at first you don’t succeed…keep on trying.
I’ll quit before I become inane.
